Yet again, photos of unreleased Nike football boots are floating around the internet. After some research, we’ve learned that they’re the new Nike Phantom Venoms and they will replace the current Nike Hypervenom Phantoms. The names can get a bit confusing, but what we now know as the Hypervenom (worn by Rooney, Lewandowski, and Aubameyang) will be replaced by a new boot with a similar name, the Nike Phantom Venom. Let’s check out the upcoming boot.
The upcoming Phantom Venom (takedown version pictured above) features a mesh-based upper with rubber elements on the instep. It also features a synthetic suede heel liner, a partial mesh lace cover, asymmetrical lacing, and chevron-shaped studs for aggressive traction on firm ground surfaces. The red Phantom Venoms pictured above are a tier lower than the black ones. The materials used for the uppers visibly look different; the red ones have a NikeSkin upper while the black ones have a softer, higher quality material for the upper; take a look at the both of the toe boxes to see this difference. This is all we currently know about the unreleased Nike Phantom Venom. From the looks of it, they greatly resemble the old T90 silo from several years back. If you couldn’t already tell, labeling every silo as “Phantom” is the direction Nike is going in with the nomenclature of their football boots. This naming system started with the Phantom Vision, the boot that replaced the Magista.

Today adidas has released the new Initiator Pack featuring the Nemeziz, Predator, X, and Copa reworked in white, black, and red colorways. The various boots will be worn on pitch by some of adidas’ biggest players beginning in November. Take a closer look at the new boots and learn how you can get them for yourself.
Initiator Nemeziz 18+
Designed to enhance the performance of the game’s most agile players, the latest Nemeziz colorway includes an AGILITYBANDAGE with TORSIONTAPES technology, providing ultimate lockdown of the foot. A dual-lock collar secures the ankle and allows for explosive change of direction while an AGILITYKNIT 2.0 interlocking yarn structure provides a soft direct touch and a lightweight feel. The new Initiator Nemeziz will be worn by Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino. They’re available to purchase here.
Initiator X 18+
The X 18+ is designed to provide stability and support at high speeds. A laceless upper locks down the midfoot and a low-cut CLAW COLLAR construction features a stretch material that secures the foot in place. The SKELETAL WEAVE is compiled of an ultra-thin woven grid of optically charged speed yarns to allow for responsive touch and lightweight feel. The ultra-soft SPEEDMESH offers a controlled touch without restricting the movement of the foot. A SPEEDFRAME outsole features lightweight, Drillium engineered tooling and minimalistic construction while a 3D MOULDED HEEL provides a snug and stable fit designed to lock the foot in place during acceleration. The new Initiator X will be worn by Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus. They’re available to purchase here.
Initiator Predator 19+
The Predator 19+ features a PURECUT Laceless system to deliver maximum surface control. A FORGED KNIT integrated midfoot structure creates medial and lateral stability while a full length BOOST midsole provides energy return with every step. The boot also includes a Primeknit SOCKFIT collar to ensure a supportive and comfortable fit and a layer of CONTROLSKIN to provide optimal grip. An anatomical upper mimics the shape of the heel to lock the foot into place. The new Initiator Predator will be worn by Manchester United’s Paul Pogba. They’re available to purchase here.
Initiator Copa 19+
Lastly, the new Copa 19+ blends tradition with modernity with a striking new design and innovative performance technology, making it adidas’ most progressive boot to date. The Sockfit collar is engineered to naturally expand to foot shape to ensure a supportive fit while an anatomical upper mimics a barefoot experience. The new Fusion Skin is an evolution of the COPA’s classic leather treatment that features a seamless and less permeable skin, re-defining touch for a football boot. The K-leather itself is super soft, providing optimal comfort and touch. The X Ray Vamp brings the foot closer to the ball and reduces slippage while the Purecut laceless upper remove unneeded layers to maximize ball control area. The first edition of the Copa 19+ comes as part of the Initiator Pack and will be worn by Juventus’ Paulo Dybala. They’re available to purchase here.

The first fully laceless leather football boot from adidas is finally here: introducing the Copa 19+. Featuring a premium K-leather upper and a new technology called ‘Fusionskin,’ the Copa blends tradition with modernity to offer a redefined touch for the new generation. Learn more about adidas’ latest game changer and take a closer look at it here.Over the last few months, there’s been speculation over whether Juventus and Argentina striker, Paulo Dybala, was wearing the next generation adidas Copa on his feet at training. Now that the news is officially out, it’s true; he was testing the laceless Copa 19+ in a blackout prototype version for several months. He said, “I’ve always been a fan of the Copa because of the classic look and incredible first touch. It suits my style of play and my personal style, too. The new boot has some great new features and a progressive design. I’m looking forward to seeing how far my game can improve with these boots.” Now that we know for a fact that he was wearing them, let’s discuss the tech specs.Launched in a champagne-esque “Off White/Solar Red/Off White” colorway with the Three Stripes in Solar Red on the instep, the reinvented Copa features a laceless premium K-leather upper paired with Fusionskin, “a revolution in the process of leather treatment, turning leather into a technology,” adidas says. The unique, wavy, X-Ray vamp is seamless and less permeable, meaning it offers a cleaner contact zone and decreased water uptake. Now its synthetic and knitted rivals have some serious competition. Aside from touch, the Copa 19+ is drastically different in terms of fit and movement. Due to the laceless design, there’s no more traditional tongue on the Copa. Instead, the upper acts as a one-piece construction, seamlessly connecting to the stretchy Primeknit collar around the heel. The new Copa offers a “sock-like” fit…on a leather boot. This is definitely one for the books. What would adidas be if they didn’t push the boundaries of what’s possible? For one, they wouldn’t have created this completely redesigned, laceless Copa. And if you’re into leather boots, you just have to try them for yourself; they truly are next level.
The adidas Copa 19+ release will be part of the Initiator Pack with new versions of the X, Nemeziz and Predator. It will be available for $275 from November 13 at 5 AM EST on adidas.com.
Playing soccer during the frigid winter months can sometimes take the fun out of the beautiful game. That’s why adidas have released their latest “Cold Mode” pack, designed to keep the winter elements at bay by integrating PrimaLoft insulation into the upper of each silo. Take a closer look at the new boots and learn how the patented material works.
PrimaLoft® is a brand of patented synthetic microfiber thermal insulation material that was developed for the United States Army in the 1980s. For the first time ever, it has made its way to the upper of football boots to keep your feet warm and comfortable all winter long. The PrimaLoft insulation is engineered into the upper of the Predator, X, and Nemeziz silos (both laceless and laced) as part of the new Cold Mode pack; the Copa has been omitted since adidas has bigger plans for that silo in the near future. In addition to the material being integrated into the upper, each boot features red PrimaLoft branding on the side of the upper to remind the wearer that their toes won’t go numb in these boots.
The Predator receives a “Trace Blue/Legend Ink/Clear Orange” color update for the winter months. Predominantly blue with a pink heel and a black/white soleplate, the Predator will stay under the radar this winter. It is available in both laceless and laced versions here.
The Nemeziz, on the other hand, gets a unique “Maroon/Legend Ink/Collegiate Burgundy” color update. The soleplate features a cracked effect for an even more distinctive look. It is available in both laceless and laced versions here.
Last but not least, the X is given a “Raw Green/Night Cargo/Clear Mint” color update. The speckled effect on the heel, also seen on the Predator 18+, adds some flair to the unusual colorway. It is available in both laceless and laced versions here.

The adidas x Paul Pogba collection is back for Season 4, and it’s bringing a Core Black/Olive colorway to on-pitch and off-pitch variations of the Predator 18. In typical Pogba fashion, he’ll stand out on the pitch with the bright fade designed three stripes, the shiny gold outsole, and the military-inspired upper. Replacing the Season 3 Collection that launched back in May, Season 4 is the first collection for Pogba to wear as a World Champion. The Predator 18+ features a “Black/Olive” military-inspired upper on a gold soleplate with red to gold adidas stripes for a pop of color. Pogba’s “PP” branding can be found on the tip of the Purecut collar while Pogba’s name, in the original Predator font, can be found on the inside of the collar.
Unlike last season’s Pogba Predator trainer, the Season 4 trainer sees a fully laced design to give you a customizable fit. It also gives adidas the opportunity to add a noticeable gold band on the bottom lace, a necessary feature for a Pogba shoe to include some sort of bling. The three stripes are black for a more subtle look while bright orange “POGBA” branding on the inside of the heel reminds you whose shoes you’re wearing every time you put them on.
Pogba’s “PP” logo is discreetly placed on the front of the collar and the heel in black. Remaining from Season 3 is the Boost midsole, but now with a translucent outsole seen previously on the Shadow Mode Predator Tango 18+ trainer. The translucent outsole allows you to see the large “POGBA” branding written underneath the midsole in the original Predator font.
The Pogba Season 4 releases are part of adidas’ Limited Collection, so they will be available in limited numbers. You can pre-order them for yourself here.
Nike have released an all-new collection of football boots today, and it’s titled the “Always Forward” pack. Headlined by a Volt Mercurial, the rest of the pack, the Phantom Vision, Hypervenom Phantom, and Tiempo Legend, is drenched in “Racer Blue.” Take a closer look at the new boots here.Returning to the Mercurial is one of Nike’s most popular colors, Volt, complemented by black for the Nike swoosh, the Mercurial branding, and the soleplate. Volt was last seen on the Mercurial Superfly IV and Vapor X back in February of 2015 so a bright, full Volt colorway like this one is long overdue. The Phantom Vision unites Racer Blue and Metallic Silver for a stunning yet subtle colorway. The soleplate and instep triangle zone, a signature element of the Phantom Vision, are decked out in Metallic Silver, giving off a clean, industrial look. The dynamic fit collar and the Nike swoosh are black while the Flyknit upper is drenched in Racer Blue.
The Hypervenom sees a similar arrangement of colors as the Phantom Vision with the only exceptions being the blacked-out heel and the white Nike swoosh. The Racer Blue upper and Metallic Silver soleplate remain the same.
The Tiempo returns to blue for the first time since November 2017 when Nike released the Ice pack, a boot pack that was released in conjunction with the Fire pack, displaying red “Fire” colorways of all four silos against blue “Ice” colorways. The “Always Forward” Tiempo sees a Racer Blue upper, a black Nike swoosh and soleplate, and Metallic Silver accents.
The new Nike “Always Forward” pack will be available on Nike.com from October 17.
The Medusae 3 Elite, Umbro’s latest boot release, is the football brand’s first ever laceless leather boot. It combines the touch and speed of the previous generations of the Medusae with an innovative one-piece k-leather upper. By stripping out the traditional lacing system, the Medusae 3 Elite really proves less is more.
Leather boots are part and parcel of Umbro’s DNA, with the Umbro Speciali an icon on the pitch since 1992. But the new Medusae 3 Elite is far removed from the traditional leather boot, with every element designed for functionality in the modern game. The Manchester-based design team spent two years perfecting the boot, speaking with professional players who asked for a lighter boot with an extended leather vamp for a better touch and feel for the ball. If an element didn’t add comfort, improve fit and feel, or aid performance, then the design team simply took it out. The result is a sophisticated leather boot that’s laceless and light:
Umbro’s lightest ever leather boot, weighing just 170g
The laceless upper is one large piece of k-leather vamp designed to increase the strike area and smooth out a greater surface area of the foot. The seamless construction of the leather upper over the forefoot creates a comfortable feel without any uneven surfaces for the foot to rub against
An engineered knitted collar with TPU heat-welded support zones provides a responsive fit and enables easy foot entry, whilst maintaining stability and security in the heel area
Debossed flex grooves follow the stitch lines of the iconic Speciali. They provide flexibility, whilst maintaining a secure ‘locked-down’ fit
Additional padded zones in the collar and silicone grip pods in the heel provide extra security
The lightweight and rigid Pebax outsole features a unique combination of conical and specifically shaped studs to ensure maximum grip and traction for speed in all directions. The stud position and geometry have been designed based on player feedback and analysis of peak pressure points during movement
The Medusae 3 Elite comes in a black, white, and marine green colorway and will be worn by Umbro players including Portugal’s European Champion Pepe, U.S. women’s team goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, Peru’s Edison Flores, and Chile’s Esteban Paredes. It will be seen on pitch for the first time in this week’s internationals.
Initially limited to 24 pairs in each country as a reference to Umbro’s foundation in 1924, the Medusae 3 Elite ($225) drops October 19th and is available on umbro.com. It will be on wider general release early 2019.
If you haven’t already seen the incredible deals on soccer cleats people are finding at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross, and Burlington stores across the nation, we’ll fill you in on some of the best finds from this week and how you can snag some of these deals for yourself.
If you’ve been out of the loop, people have been finding top tier (and mid and low tier) soccer cleats at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross, and Burlington stores across the United States for far below their regular retail price. It’s been a phenomenon, with people frequently visiting their nearest locations in hopes of finding a pair of boots. The chances of actually finding a pair of top tier soccer cleats are very slim, though; it’s a hit or miss. However, when you do find them, they’re guaranteed to be heavily discounted.
If you’re looking to actually play in the boots you find and not just collect them, chances are even more slim that you’ll find them in your size, so don’t show up to these stores expecting to find $250 soccer cleats in your size for $20; it takes patience, persistence, and, quite honestly, hope. Many bargain hunters collect the boots they find or flip them on eBay for more money. With that being said, let’s get into some of the best finds from this week.
1. Black History Month Nike Mercurial Vapor XI
First up is the limited edition Black History Month Nike Mercurial Vapor XI. Originally released in January of 2018, they’ve officially hit the shelves of Burlington, the retailer where these were found at for a mere $24.99. That’s a pretty hefty discount from its original $254.99 retail price. They’re currently listed on eBay by resellers for over $100 so to find these at a fraction of the price is not only incredible, but very rare.
2. EA Sports Nike Hypervenom Phantom III
Next is the EA Sports Nike Hypervenom Phantom 3. Another limited edition release, these boots have found their way to the shelves of Marshalls where they’re being sold for just $19.99 (regular retail price is $300). Originally released in September of 2017, the EA Sports Hypervenom 3s were individually numbered and limited to 3000 adult sized pairs and 1000 youth sized pairs, which makes them an even more rare and incredible find. They’re currently listed on eBay by resellers for well over $200, with some asking as much as $400 per pair.
3. Floodlights Pack Nike Magista Obra II
Last is the Nike Magista Obra 2 from the Floodlights Pack, a football boot pack released on October 3, 2016. These boots retail for $275 and have now been found at a Marshalls store for just $24.99, 11 times cheaper than their regular retail price. If you’re serious about finding awesome deals like these, here are a few things you should know.
Do you want to snag similar deals for yourself? It’s unlikely you’re going to find these exact finds, but often times when there’s a certain boot at a few locations, they’re most likely at many locations across the nation. Whether you’re looking to flip them or collect them, here are some tips from Elmer Hernandez (@ehdeportes on Instagram), a football boot bargain hunter:
The best days to look for finds are Monday through Friday.
Marshalls and Burlington stores usually restock in the morning.
Ross stores usually restock in late morning or early afternoon.
Go as often as you can, and even more often when you start to find a pair or two.
Ask the store manager when they get in new shipments and when they put stuff out on the shelves.

Luka Modrić was just crowned the Best Male Player at this year’s FIFA Awards, so Nike are celebrating him with his own special edition Mercurial Vapor boot. Take a closer look at the eye-catching boots and learn about some of his most recent accomplishments in football.
The Croatian midfielder led his national team to their first ever FIFA World Cup final just this summer. He also won the UEFA Champions League for the third consecutive year with Real Madrid this past season. Now, he’s defeated both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for FIFA’s ‘The Best’ Award, something that hasn’t been done by any player since 2007 when Kaká took first place, Messi took second, and Ronaldo took third.
His special edition boot features a multi-chrome, iridescent upper with touches of green, white, and gold included in the color palette. Other features of the boot include lightweight plates under the forefoot and heel, which are contoured to maximize comfort and control.
Nike recently announced that the boots will not be releasing to the general public, so unless you’re Luka Modrić, you won’t be wearing these shiny special edition Mercurial Vapors anytime soon.
