Adidas Launch Their First-Ever Laceless Leather Boot, the COPA 19+

Adidas Copa 19+ Laceless Leather Football BootsThe first fully laceless leather football boot from adidas is finally here: introducing the Copa 19+. Featuring a premium K-leather upper and a new technology called ‘Fusionskin,’ the Copa blends tradition with modernity to offer a redefined touch for the new generation. Learn more about adidas’ latest game changer and take a closer look at it here.Unreleased Adidas Copa 19+ Laceless Leather Football Boot Blackout - Paulo DybalaOver the last few months, there’s been speculation over whether Juventus and Argentina striker, Paulo Dybala, was wearing the next generation adidas Copa on his feet at training. Now that the news is officially out, it’s true; he was testing the laceless Copa 19+ in a blackout prototype version for several months. He said, “I’ve always been a fan of the Copa because of the classic look and incredible first touch. It suits my style of play and my personal style, too. The new boot has some great new features and a progressive design. I’m looking forward to seeing how far my game can improve with these boots.” Now that we know for a fact that he was wearing them, let’s discuss the tech specs.c93b18c7028dLaunched in a champagne-esque “Off White/Solar Red/Off White” colorway with the Three Stripes in Solar Red on the instep, the reinvented Copa features a laceless premium K-leather upper paired with Fusionskin, “a revolution in the process of leather treatment, turning leather into a technology,” adidas says. The unique, wavy, X-Ray vamp is seamless and less permeable, meaning it offers a cleaner contact zone and decreased water uptake. Now its synthetic and knitted rivals have some serious competition. chaussures-football-adidas-copa-19-novembre-2018-6-1400x933Aside from touch, the Copa 19+ is drastically different in terms of fit and movement. Due to the laceless design, there’s no more traditional tongue on the Copa. Instead, the upper acts as a one-piece construction, seamlessly connecting to the stretchy Primeknit collar around the heel. The new Copa offers a “sock-like” fit…on a leather boot. This is definitely one for the books.Adidas Copa 19+ Laceless Leather Football BootsWhat would adidas be if they didn’t push the boundaries of what’s possible? For one, they wouldn’t have created this completely redesigned, laceless Copa. And if you’re into leather boots, you just have to try them for yourself; they truly are next level.

The adidas Copa 19+ release will be part of the Initiator Pack with new versions of the X, Nemeziz and Predator. It will be available for $275 from November 13 at 5 AM EST on adidas.com.Adidas Copa 19+ Laceless Leather Football Boots

Adidas Release “Cold Mode” Pack Featuring PrimaLoft Insulation

Adidas cold mode football boot pack with PrimaLoft insulation - Nemeziz 18, X 18, Predator 18

Playing soccer during the frigid winter months can sometimes take the fun out of the beautiful game. That’s why adidas have released their latest “Cold Mode” pack, designed to keep the winter elements at bay by integrating PrimaLoft insulation into the upper of each silo. Take a closer look at the new boots and learn how the patented material works.

PrimaLoft® is a brand of patented synthetic microfiber thermal insulation material that was developed for the United States Army in the 1980s. For the first time ever, it has made its way to the upper of football boots to keep your feet warm and comfortable all winter long. The PrimaLoft insulation is engineered into the upper of the Predator, X, and Nemeziz silos (both laceless and laced) as part of the new Cold Mode pack; the Copa has been omitted since adidas has bigger plans for that silo in the near future. In addition to the material being integrated into the upper, each boot features red PrimaLoft branding on the side of the upper to remind the wearer that their toes won’t go numb in these boots.

The Predator receives a “Trace Blue/Legend Ink/Clear Orange” color update for the winter months. Predominantly blue with a pink heel and a black/white soleplate, the Predator will stay under the radar this winter. It is available in both laceless and laced versions here.

The Nemeziz, on the other hand, gets a unique “Maroon/Legend Ink/Collegiate Burgundy” color update. The soleplate features a cracked effect for an even more distinctive look. It is available in both laceless and laced versions here.

Last but not least, the X is given a “Raw Green/Night Cargo/Clear Mint” color update. The speckled effect on the heel, also seen on the Predator 18+, adds some flair to the unusual colorway. It is available in both laceless and laced versions here.

Paul Pogba Adidas Football Season 4 Collection Predator 18+

Adidas Football x Paul Pogba Season 4 Collection Revealed

Paul Pogba Adidas Football Season 4 Collection Predator 18+The adidas x Paul Pogba collection is back for Season 4, and it’s bringing a Core Black/Olive colorway to on-pitch and off-pitch variations of the Predator 18. In typical Pogba fashion, he’ll stand out on the pitch with the bright fade designed three stripes, the shiny gold outsole, and the military-inspired upper. Replacing the Season 3 Collection that launched back in May, Season 4 is the first collection for Pogba to wear as a World Champion.Paul Pogba Adidas Football Season 4 Collection Predator 18+The Predator 18+ features a “Black/Olive” military-inspired upper on a gold soleplate with red to gold adidas stripes for a pop of color. Pogba’s “PP” branding can be found on the tip of the Purecut collar while Pogba’s name, in the original Predator font, can be found on the inside of the collar.

Unlike last season’s Pogba Predator trainer, the Season 4 trainer sees a fully laced design to give you a customizable fit. It also gives adidas the opportunity to add a noticeable gold band on the bottom lace, a necessary feature for a Pogba shoe to include some sort of bling. The three stripes are black for a more subtle look while bright orange “POGBA” branding on the inside of the heel reminds you whose shoes you’re wearing every time you put them on.

Pogba’s “PP” logo is discreetly placed on the front of the collar and the heel in black. Remaining from Season 3 is the Boost midsole, but now with a translucent outsole seen previously on the Shadow Mode Predator Tango 18+ trainer. The translucent outsole allows you to see the large “POGBA” branding written underneath the midsole in the original Predator font.

The Pogba Season 4 releases are part of adidas’ Limited Collection, so they will be available in limited numbers. You can pre-order them for yourself here.

Adidas Classic Pro Goalkeeper Glove Review

IMG_5639The Adidas Classic Pro is a snug fitting all-weather goalkeeper glove featuring grippy Nova Latex, a negative cut, a latex backhand, and a snug neoprene wristband. They’re an affordable and comfortable option suitable for games or elite level practices. They’re available to purchase on AmazonIMG_5642Tech Specs

Palm: 3.5mm of Nova Latex with 4mm of cushioning foam.

Cut: Negative cut with latex gussets. Latex wrapped thumb.

Backhand: Embossed latex on a neoprene body.

Closure: Adidas stretch strap on a close-fitting neoprene wristband. Pull loop system stitched onto wristband.

The Adidas Classic Pro Goalkeeper Gloves are available for around eighty US dollars on Amazon.

IMG_5654My Thoughts

Palm: The 3.5mm of Nova Latex with 4mm of cushioning foam offers a very good balance of grip and cushioning. The Nova Latex offers a good grip and gets a solid hold on the ball once you pre-wash the gloves. The 4mm of cushioning absorbs the impact of hard shots very well, and you can noticeably feel this cushioning when stopping shots. After several matches wearing these gloves on natural grass, there are no rips or tears to be found in the latex palms yet. Wearing these on artificial grass might tell a different story, though; turf is much more likely to eat away at the latex palms. IMG_5651IMG_5656Cut: The negative cut is ideal for goalkeepers with slim hands, or goalkeepers who prefer a tighter fitting glove. This negative cut is snug but not overwhelmingly so; there is a tiny bit of wiggle room in the fingers but then again, I have pretty slim fingers. The latex gussets make the cut feel seamless and they increase latex-to-ball contact which is always a good thing. Because of the addition of latex gussets, the cut isn’t all that breathable and your fingers can get pretty hot inside the gloves sometimes.

IMG_5657IMG_5653Backhand: The embossed latex backhand feels comfortable, lightweight, and flexible on hand. The latex over the knuckles feels thick enough to punch the ball away with plenty of power. Because the latex is embossed, there are plenty of natural flex grooves that make the gloves very flexible, although I would have liked to see some exposed neoprene for extra flexibility on this glove. IMG_5649Closure & Fit: The adidas stretch strap allows for a secure, custom fit when wrapped around your wrist. However, there is a minor flaw with it. I wish adidas would’ve included a rubber tab at the end of the stretch strap to prevent the latex fingertips from coming in contact with the velcro on the stretch strap, since the velcro has the ability to rip the delicate latex. The close-fitting neoprene wristband fits very snug on my wrist. In fact, it’s probably the most snug wristband I’ve ever experience on a goalkeeper glove, so if you have larger wrists, you might have trouble getting your hands into these gloves. The pull loop system stitched onto the wristband is helpful in getting the gloves on and adjusting the fit. The Classic Pro is an all-around snug fitting glove so if you have larger hands, I recommend staying away from these gloves. IMG_5645IMG_5648For around eighty US dollars, there are better glove options from smaller brands with more features; however, these aren’t terrible when it comes to its value. They fit comfortably, they have a good grip, they can serve well as either game gloves or elite practice gloves, but they lack breathability and they’re priced on the higher end for what they offer compared to other gloves we’ve reviewed. You can pick up a pair for yourself on Amazon.IMG_5661

Adidas Gloro 16.1 Soccer Cleat Review

adidas gloro 16.1 soccer cleatsA more affordable and modern version of the beloved Copa Mundial, the adidas Gloro 16.1 soccer cleat offers a soft kangaroo leather toe box, a synthetic leather midfoot, and eleven conical studs. Priced around one hundred ten US dollars, it’s a simple yet effective and affordable boot for players in search of a classic look and a comfortable fit. They’re available to purchase in a variety of colors on Amazon.

IMG_1793Tech Specs

Made for firm ground pitches, the outsole features only conical studs and a comfort frame for stability. An EVA insole absorbs some of the shock on hard, dry fields. With a soft kangaroo leather toe box, the Gloro 16.1 offers that classic leather touch while the synthetic midfoot provides stability for powerful strikes.

-Premium K-leather vamp with synthetic leather in heel for great combination of softness and stability

-Synthetic lining for a lockdown fit and step-in comfort

-Die-cut EVA insole for lightweight comfort and shock absorption

-Flexible TPU firm ground outsole with comfort frame and eleven conical studs

The adidas Gloro 16.1 is available in a variety of colors for around one hundred ten US dollars on Amazon.

IMG_1833My Thoughts

Breaking In & Fit: Within the first day of testing the Gloro 16.1 out, I did not experience any pain, discomfort, or have an awkward fit. They fit perfectly right out of the box and hug my feet nice and snug. That being said, there really isn’t a “break in” period for these boots; they feel very comfortable from the first time playing in them and only get more comfortable the more you wear them. The fit isn’t too tight or narrow; it feels pretty snug at first, but the kangaroo leather stretches over time making for a more comfortable fit that should fit most foot types. The adidas Gloro 16.1 runs true to size.

IMG_1841Performance: The Gloro 16.1 has proven to be a very good and high quality boot for its relatively low price point (MSRP is one hundred ten US dollars). The kangaroo leather toe box is pretty soft right out of the box, but gets even softer and stretches the more you wear the boots. It offers a nice padded leather sensation when dribbling or striking the ball. What’s so great about the Gloro 16.1 having a synthetic midfoot is that it’s extremely stable and supportive, allowing you to achieve maximum power when striking the ball. I had no issues with the perforated synthetic lining; the step-in comfort you get when putting on the boots is impressive. The lockdown you can achieve with the Gloro is also quite impressive. The outsole features a comfort frame for stability, and that definitely holds true from my experience testing these boots. The eleven conical studs (seven up front, four at the back) get great traction on firm, natural ground surfaces, like dry grass. They penetrate the ground well and allow you to turn easier with the ball at your feet. Note that the Gloro is not designed or made for artificial grass; it’s strictly intended for firm ground use only.

IMG_1845IMG_1851Durability & Looks: I really don’t foresee the Gloro 16.1 having any durability issues, especially since the back quarter and heel are synthetic. After testing these boots for two months, I have not found any signs of deterioration or possible durability issues. However, because the toe box is kangaroo leather, that area is most susceptible to deterioration; it’s known that k-leather doesn’t hold up too well when exposed to wet or sloppy weather. To attempt to combat this, looking after your cleats and washing them after those exposures is advised. The Gloro 16.1 definitely sports a simple and classic look with it’s “Vivid Red” upper and three adidas white stripes on both the lateral and medial side of the boot. There’s nothing too extravagant or out of the ordinary with these boots, making them a nice, basic option for all that take a liking to these. They also come in other colors such as black, white, and blue.

IMG_1866Overall, the Gloro 16.1 is a boot focused on simplicity and comfort and for a very competitive price of one hundred ten US dollars (MSRP). It’s definitely a more modern and affordable version of the traditional Copa Mundial, with much needed modern improvements such as the weight-saving synthetic midfoot and the comfort frame outsole. You can purchase a pair for yourself on Amazon.IMG_1807
