Yet again, photos of unreleased Nike football boots are floating around the internet. After some research, we’ve learned that they’re the new Nike Phantom Venoms and they will replace the current Nike Hypervenom Phantoms. The names can get a bit confusing, but what we now know as the Hypervenom (worn by Rooney, Lewandowski, and Aubameyang) will be replaced by a new boot with a similar name, the Nike Phantom Venom. Let’s check out the upcoming boot.
The upcoming Phantom Venom (takedown version pictured above) features a mesh-based upper with rubber elements on the instep. It also features a synthetic suede heel liner, a partial mesh lace cover, asymmetrical lacing, and chevron-shaped studs for aggressive traction on firm ground surfaces. The red Phantom Venoms pictured above are a tier lower than the black ones. The materials used for the uppers visibly look different; the red ones have a NikeSkin upper while the black ones have a softer, higher quality material for the upper; take a look at the both of the toe boxes to see this difference. This is all we currently know about the unreleased Nike Phantom Venom. From the looks of it, they greatly resemble the old T90 silo from several years back. If you couldn’t already tell, labeling every silo as “Phantom” is the direction Nike is going in with the nomenclature of their football boots. This naming system started with the Phantom Vision, the boot that replaced the Magista.
